The short answer is No. But this heater has four safety features: 1) It has a design that is not flat on the top or bottom. This allows air to circulate even when upside down. 2) It has an internal thermostat. This will keep the unit from overheating. 3) It has a thermal cut out installed within the heater itself. This will permanently deactivate the product if on the odd chance the two previous items fail and it overheats. 4) It is a low wattage heater and will not heat the surrounding area too quickly.
